JUNE

 

Ocean Commotion

June 14-18, 10:00-11:30 am (4-7 years)                  $50

Learn about a new sea creature each day in this fun art and science class.  Students will create pop bottle jellyfish, clay & sand starfish, sandpaper sharks, & veggie print whales, while exploring the mysteries of the deep blue sea! 

 

 

Junior Bug Safari

June 21-25, 10:00-11:30 am (4-7 years)                    $50

Your busy bee will spend the week learning about our creepy crawly friends and creating unique insect art.  Students will make torn paper butterflies, toothpick and candy bugs, clay ladybugs, and blown paint bugs just to name a few.

 

Summer Sun and Fun!

June 28-July 2, 10:00-11:30 am (4-7 years)            $50

Summer and fun just go together.  Students will create art works that focus on summer themes like sun symbols, green leaves, waves & water, ice cream cones, and watermelon while enjoying the sun and fun of summer.

 

JULY

 

Watercolor Workshop

July 7-9, 10:00-Noon (8 and Up)                        $50

Our young artists will learn new and fun techniques for working with real watercolor while working on beautiful projects that display their abilities.           

 

Let's Play Music: Blue Bugs

Six 50-minute lessons (T, TH)

July 13 & 15, 20 & 22, 27 & 29            

9:00-9:50 am, (3-4 year olds)                                  $40

Students will learn, through play, to feel a steady beat, imitate rhythmic patterns, read rhythmic notation, and play in a rhythm ensemble.

 

Let's Play Music: Red Balloons

Nine 50-minute lessons (T, W, Th)

July 13-15, 20-22, 27-29                                       

10:00-10:50 am, (4-5 year olds)                               $60

Students will learn, through play, to match pitch, use solfeggio hand signs, recognize simple staff notation, hear and sing both melody and harmony, and play a major scale and simple accompaniment on tone bells.

 

Let's Play Music! believes that young children are capable of learning complex musical skills, and that children learn best through full body involvement--playing, dancing and singing.

           

Microbes and Microscopes

July 19-21, 1:00-3:00 pm (9-12 years)                       $50

Students will study the microbes of Hobble Creek through a “scientist’s eye.” Students will spend time collecting samples from the river and using microscopes with Dr. Alan Harker, Professor of Microbiology at BYU.

 

Ooey, Gooey, Kablooey

July 20-23, 11:00-Noon (4-10 years)                        $35

Do you have a child who loves the idea of concocting potions?  In this class we will make all kinds of slimy stuff and some yummy stuff too. 

 

Young Illustrators

July 26-30, 1:00-2:30 pm (6-12 years)                        $55

If your child loves to doodle, create characters, and weave their own stories this is the perfect class.  Students will use their imaginations to create beautiful books complete with original illustrations.

 

AUGUST

 

Wizard's Workshop 

August 3-6, 11:00-Noon (4-10 years)                         $35

Abracadabra!  Sometimes science seems like magic.  Students will use science and art to create magical reactions, chemical potions, and optical illusions! 

 

Bug Catchers

August 9-11, 1:00-3:00 pm (7-12 years)                      $50

Spend some time with the some of the smallest creatures in the great outdoors.  Capture, collect and classify insects, and check out real insect collections from the Bean Museum.

 

Math Magicians

August 9-13                                                                  $40

This week long course is designed to improve and refresh math skills and confidence as students prepare to go back to school.

WEEKLY ART CLASSES

 

Mommy, Monet and Me

Monday, 9:30-10:15 am (2-5 years)    

$5.00 per class, 4 week pass: $16.00, 12 week pass: $36.00

Mom and tot art class designed to introduce young children to art. Come and experiment with texture, paint, or clay and we will take care of the clean up!

REGISTRATION

 
You can register over the phone or in person at Hobble Creek Learning Center.  Summer class payments are due at the time of registration.  Payments can be made in person or over the phone using a credit or debit card.  Payments will be 75% refundable up to seven days before the class starts.  We cannot refund any money with less than seven days notice.  If a summer program is cancelled a full refund will be given.
